How to Use the iPad for Conferences and Meetings

Technology has taken the world by storm and changed the manner in which we do things and interact with family and friends. Businesses in Singapore have not been left behind either with the mobile technology driving it in terms of growth and business processes. The iPad has changed a lot in businesses; not just how they conduct and hold events, but also conferences and meetings.

The business world has adopted the use of iPads to run various business functions. As a result of the high cost of this mobile device, many companies have sprung up to provide iPad rental services for ease of access to this platform. The iPad comes with various features that allow businesses to easily hold meetings and conferences.

With the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore that is dedicated to providing business with access to modern state-of-the-art facilities for events, conferences and meetings, companies have no reason not to take advantage of the many features and benefits that come with renting iPads for such events such as improved engagement and interactivity between the companies, customers and guests.

During meetings, delegates can interact through social media platforms on the iPad like Facebook or the Facetime app. Company videos, maps to locations of meeting rooms and venues can all be accessed by the delegates through the Podium Timer HD or Dropbox and Maps applications, respectively. The guests or delegates can also remotely attend meetings through the iPad as avatars.

Businesses can receive real time feedback from attending delegates using iPad apps such as the browser-based Pegionhole, genie-Connect and Crystal interactive that use Q&A to get feedback, in addition to allowing for voting and brainstorming sessions during meetings. The Crystal interactive app also has a digital assistant feature that enables businesses to provide the meeting agenda and even access the profiles of attending delegates, not to mention the spaces they occupy in the meeting sessions.

Gamification of conferences through the iPad puzzles and games do not just allow for fun times during conferences or meetings, but also enable the delegates to learn more about the hosting company or business. The Evernote app and iPad camera allow for capturing of notes during meetings or conferences for future reference.

The keynote app allows for presentations while with the Soundnote app, delegates can record talks during meetings into an audio file. Skype, Tweetbot and Mind Mapping apps, among others, are a favorite for many businesses and delegates. Irrespective of the kind of meeting or conference and its agenda, businesses that rent iPads are guaranteed improved mobility, increased productivity, effective and prompt communication and reduced costs as well as time spent during the conferences and meetings.

At Touristpads, we are the industry leader in iPad rental services. Whether you are looking to organize a conference, meeting or any other kind of business event in Singapore, we are your ultimate choice for all your needs. We deliver top notch services and ensure the iPads get to the conference or meeting location on time. We also pick the gadgets at the end of the events to save the company time and money.

Using the iPad for Education

Technology is continuously improving and evolving. It has really impacted how things are done including how students are now learning. The rapid and constant pace of change in technology has continued to create opportunities in classrooms for both teachers and students. The iPad became so popular in Singapore schools soon after it was released.

The students can now have a great access to multimedia content unlike in the past. Courses are now more available as one can join an e-learning platform. The iPad has become a favourite due to its inbuilt apps and features. Most schools have incorporated it in their courses to help the students thrive in the 21st century. Although these gadgets are expensive, many companies rent iPads to schools and businesses in need of them.

The iPad comes with a document camera with the stage interactive whiteboard that helps the student record what the teacher says in a simple manner. If you have to review any academic topic that you aim to give to your students, you can easily use the Quizlet app which is a free application. It allows the teacher to create flashcards for his students. An optional teacher account is also available with this application. The teacher can also use visuals on his projected iPad. The visuals can be used for presentation purposes.

iPads also come with interactive textbooks which the students can easily access. The teachers who have a difficult time choosing people to get the projects done, can use apps on the iPad which make the work easier by choosing names randomly and ensuring a balance. The iPad may also be used by students with disabilities as it has features that they can easily use. Some schools allow the students to carry the iPads home with no restrictions.

Touristpads Singapore can help you get iPads for education. We rent iPads to schools, business events, trade shows or even conferences. We provide the latest iPad 4 and Air that come with retina displays, security cases, kiosks and accessories in addition to world class customer support services. All the iPad rental services come with access to unlimited internet, a sim card, an apple smart case and a charger cable. We deliver to and from the event at your convenience so you won’t need to feel inconvenienced about getting them to your school.

There are a myriad of benefits that result from renting. They include saving time and money, you can screen cast easily and most of all have a peace of mind as the iPad comes with a security lock. Contact us today at 9274 1349 today to find out more.

How to Use an iPad for Your Next Business Event

Technology has continued to evolve over the years and touches almost every aspect of our everyday lives. Thanks to the World Wide Web, information is easily available. But despite the way technology has influenced our personal lives, the Singapore business world has also revolutionized beyond what was expected in the past few decades. The advancement in Communication and information technology has entirely changed the pace and the face of businesses generally. As information now travels faster, the world now seems smaller and this has large implications on how we go about conducting business. If any business as of now has not embraced technology then it might suffer immense consequences and most of all lag behind.

Technology has not just modified how companies do business, but also how they plan and hold their events with the invention of the iPad. The use of this device has taken businesses a notch higher to a whole new level of doing business and has become one of the serious tools for conducting business. Analysts now say that the sale of tablets will overtake that of laptops and PC’s. Because this gadget is expensive and might not be affordable to some businesses, iPad rental services are accessible in Singapore and other parts of the globe. The iPad comes with different features and business applications that helps make business events a real success.

iPads feature a long battery life, compact design and lightweight style, sleek profile, touch screen, a built-in Wi-Fi connection, built in speakers, razor sharp display and an intuitive interface, in addition to a range of business applications. The iPad can be used in a business event in various ways. It can engage prospective customers, business employees and guests at an event through sales presentations, training of employees, and strategic planning of the event or demonstration of a new product the company is introducing. Companies can access their CRM system or even send out copious notes through the use of this gadget.

The device can also be used to market the company during such events. One can easily gather email addresses with an application called the ‘Chimpadeedoo’ and send out promotional information. Making presentations has been made easier through the use of the keynote application which is the equivalent of PowerPoint. You can easily create, open or edit a file in your iPad using this app and save it on email for future reference. Customer service can also be easily done using an iPad. This is because one can collect information about their customers and communicate with them anytime. There are simply numerous ways to integrate the iPad into your business, given the dozens of applications readily available. Why not rent an iPad for your next business event?

At the check-in table, a range of iPads can be used to showcase the business’s milestones worth noting. The PopBooth app can be used to allow for an interactive experience during the event with guests sharing photos through the social media platforms using the ‘party mode’ menu or even order for the traditional printed photos without having to lose them; the iPad is passed around amongst guests to enable this. The password protected UStream and Face Time can allow those not in attendances to follow the event from wherever they are across the globe through the internet. A social media lounge can also be set up through the iPad and guests allowed to leave video messages through the 'Thrilled for You' app designed for digital signage.

At TouristPads Singapore, we rent iPads for your business event, trade shows or even a conference. We provide the latest iPad air and iPad 4 with retina display, security cases, accessories, kiosks and world class customer service. All the rentals come with a SIM card with unlimited internet access, charger, cable and an Apple smart case. For convenience, we deliver to and collect from your event. The benefits of renting are a lot as you can save both time and money, screen cast easily, convert traffic into online connections and most of all differentiate your event.

Contact us today by calling us on 9274 1349 or dropping an email at info@touristpads.com. Please specify your rental period, number of iPads required, a brief description of the event, particular names, contact number and email addresses and we will get back to you quickly.

iPad Air

iPad Air

Apple has announced a new version of the iPad, and it's renamed to iPad Air instead of iPad 5. Featuring a thinner screen bezel, the iPad Air is 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than the fourth-generation iPad.

iPad Air Specs

  • 9.7″ Retina display
  • A7 64 bit CPU
  • M7 motion processor
  • 5MP iSight camera
  • 1080p HD video
  • FaceTime HD camera
  • Dual microphones
  • 10 hour battery life
  • 802.11n MIMO Wi-Fi, optional LTE model
  • 1lbs weight

The iPad Air is available in two different color options, a silver and white option, or a space grey and black model and retails from S$688 for the most basic model.

The iPad Air will be available for order in Singapore from November 1, can't wait to get ahold of them for our clients!

Here's what some people have said of the device based on first impressions:

The Verge:

there's little doubt that the iPad Air is going to be even more powerful and much more portable than any previous 9.7-inch iPad. Both White and Space Gray iPad Airs look nice, the Space Gray slightly stealthier and the White a little more fun (and a little more prone to fingerprints, it looks like). They feel fast, though not noticeably different from the A7-powered iPhone 5S. Even despite a couple of surprising omissions, like a TouchID fingerprint sensor, this device deserves a new name: it feels completely different than the full-sized iPad once did. Apple's clearly trying to turn the iPad Air into a full-size device you're willing to take outside your home, and based on our first impressions we'd happily throw one in our backpacks today.

Watch Jony Ive talk about the iPad Air:

Gizmodo:

Inside, the new iPad runs the already burly new A7 system chip in the iPhone 5s. According to Apple, the new chip makes iPad Air up to 8x faster processor performance and 72x faster graphics performance.

The new chip, as we noted before, introduces support for 64-bit architecture — basically future-proofing for higher RAM devices. The CPU features an underlying improvement in architecture (ARMv8 from ARMv7, if you must know), which will greatly improve battery life.

The A7′s new M7 Motion Coprocessor, which manages inputs from the iPads built-in sensors. Although, we’re less sure what we’d use this extra power for given that you’re less likely to go for a run with iPad in tow.

Apple now has Wi-Fi with MIMO that’s two times faster than before.

The video above shows the new Covers in orange, red, pink, green, grey, white, black, and blue. The video also shows how this cover fits exactly with the dimensions of the leaked new iPad 5 design.

Run sailor run was a 2 weeks long promotional event by Crocs with special support from Fly Entertainment artiste Tosh Zhang which ended recently on 3 May. To reward loyal customers of Crocs, all they needed to do was to play a simple game and get 20% off their purchase. TouristPads came to the management’s mind immediately because of our vast experience in supporting events with our iPad rental and we are using the stylish Maclocks casings to secure the iPads at the six Crocs branches at Tampines Mall, Parkway Parade, Marina Bay Sands, Marina Square, Plaza Singapura and Junction 8. We are really pleased to have members of the public asking about the casings as we are doing the setup at some places!

After the event, we spoke to some of the staff at Crocs to talk about the impact on sales using our iPads for this particular event. Many of them believed that having a shiny iPad with Retina display with a beautiful casing right in front of the cashier helped attracted customers and in the process, allowed them to know about the promotion and helped achieve more sales!

Curious how our iPads looked like on display? We have attached 3 pictures for your reference and we would like to thank Maclocks for providing a great product! For more information on our iPad and/or accessories rental, please visit us at TouristPads or drop us an email at info@touristpads.com.

Learn how Makino reached 1,000

Premium Griffin Kiosk

Premium Griffin Kiosk

Events are a great way of promoting your products and services and for those in the engineering industry, the MTA 2013 held at Singapore Expo needs no introduction. The precision engineering industry event, held on 9 - 12 April was a time for Makino to showcase all their latest precision machines to potential clients. As they predicted that the event will be a busy one and they might not have sufficient manpower to attend to all visitors at the booth, they decided to deploy TouristPads' premium Griffin iPad stands as an information counter for anyone visiting the booth. Our client mentioned that the Griffin kiosks looked really wonderful with their sleek and white colour design, which was a joy to see them accompanying every single machine at the booth. Of course, the iPads housed within the kiosks had interactive information, making the booth a hot favourite during the event.

We are really glad that we helped Makino reached 1000 and more. We believe in providing the best value to our clients and we use only up to date devices and premium accessories for our rental. We provide iPad 3/4 for rent, as they are in Retina display to ensure the best user experience. Our premium kiosks are from Griffin and all our stylish looking security cases come from Maclocks. Both established brands with great products.

We are also providing our iPad rental service for 2 major events in the next few weeks, so watch out for more great news from us!

Earth Hour 2013 Transport Survey

TouristPads was involved in the recent Earth Hour 2013 Transport Survey which was a part of the Earth Hour 2013 held on 23 March 2013. Our client took up our iPad rental service because they wanted to save the trees by going paperless. This was certainly a good move because they need not go through the hassle of printing and distributing survey sheets and all data collection can be done via a simple google form created by them. This also made it easier for people to complete the survey with a few simple touches on the iPads.

All our iPad rental comes with 3G, ensuring connectivity and capturing all required data to an online form. Thinking of conducting hassle free survey? Just give us a call or email and we will get back in touch within 24 hours to discuss about our iPad rental product and services.

Many useful apps for events can also be found free on the Apple App Store, and we can recommend a couple of good ones as used by all our extremely satisfied customers!

Abbott Vascular at AsiaPCR 2013

TouristPads was called into action once again after supporting the Youthhawkerprise with our iPad rental and kiosks. This time round, another of our premium product, the New iPad Lock Security Cover with Rotating Stands coupled with our iPad rental service were utilized to display information to VIP guests visiting the booth.

According to Mr John who took up our service, renting iPads is so much easier to manage and at a cheaper rate compared to renting a TV set. He went on to mention that the retina display of our iPads ensured that the quality of display to the guests was not compromised.

Here are some snapshots of the event and a big thank you to Abbott Vascular for taking up our iPad rental service!

The Youthhawkerprise Launch!

Youthhawkerprise Logo

TouristPads was called into action on a Saturday afternoon to help support an interesting event. Four students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University held an exhibition at Tiong Bahru Market as part of their final year project. The purpose of the exhibition was to showcase eight outstanding young hawker heroes from diverse backgrounds and to create some publicity for an upcoming workshop in a week's time.

A short background of these students as stated on their website: "We are united in our passion for hawker fare and ultimately want to preserve the unique experience of eating at hawker centres for generations of Singaporeans to come. Through Youth Hawkerprise, we aim to empower budding talents from Singapore’s leading culinary institutes, inspire them with success stories from their peers, and also educate them with practical insights about how hawking can be a viable business opportunity."

Here are some photos taken at the event with our iPad kiosks in action right in front of the stage. They also managed to invite Mr Baey Yam Keng, MP of Tampines GRC to be the guest of honour.

The event went really well and TouristPads is proud to be part of it!

Good job students! May you get an A+ for your FYP! You fully deserve it!

TouristPads featured on VTV!

I could not help but felt nervous on the 9th Nov as I approached Ibis Hotel. Delivery to a client was very much routine to me, but this particular one was special. The process was going to be filmed by the national television of Vietnam, VTV. Mr Hung, Singapore Bureau Chief and Correspondent of VTV, caught us on The Straits Times on 5 Nov and wanted some stories to inspire Vietnamese people to be entrepreneurial. You can view the video below to check out the proceedings!

A newly-launched tourist service known as Touristpad has got much appreciation from foreign travellers in Singapore. With an ipad installed with a bunch of apps, foreign tourists can guide themselves to every corners of Singapore. VTV Correspondent in Singapore has the story.

This report was finally broadcasted on "Chào Buổi Sáng" on the 12th and 13th Dec. "Chào Buổi Sáng" means "Good morning" in Vietnam and it reminds me of "早安你好" here in Singapore. I understand from Mr Hung that it is one of most watched program in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

Thank you Mr Hung and VTV for featuring us!

Burpple

Burpple

We recently talked to the people at Burpple about their app, and Dixon, co-founder at Burpple, shared with us Burpple's new feature: Burpple Explore. I've personally used Burpple on my own iPhone before, but didn't use it much as I preferred Instagram. However, with the launch of Burpple Explore and their Instagram integration, I just might start taking more food photos with Burpple!

For our iPad rental customers to Singapore, we believe that this app will be a great way for them to find out more about dining locations nearby. As our iPads all come with 3G internet, our rental customers will be able to access Burpple's top picks nearby (pictured below).

Burpple Explore

Burpple Explore

Burpple is a great app, with lots of international users, and an especially strong Singaporean user base. We believe that the addition of this app to our iPads will benefit Singapore tourists immensely. To rent an iPad, simply make your reservation online.

Singapore Sparks

The TouristPads Team was recently featured on IS Magazine Singapore for their November issue, and we'd like to tell you more about this great magazine. For one, it's free, and is distributed widely at many great places. I was dining at an Italian restaurant recently when I was pleasantly surprised to find the magazine available. The magazine has seriously great coverage of local restaurants, events, fashion, and attractions, and always a pleasure to read. Their interview with us can be found at http://is.asia-city.com/tech/article/interview-touristpads-singapore.

As we blogged about earlier, tourists who rent our iPad when they visit Singapore will get to read I-S Magazine on all their rentals!

TouristPads also rents iPads for businesses and events, contact us at info@touristpads.com to find out how our full suite of products and services can serve you today!

Blog post by our customers Giulio and Nat

Nat out and about with the TouristPad.

Nat out and about with the TouristPad.

A couple, Giulio and Nat, recently visited Singapore and took advantage of our iPad rental product. They blogged about their trip to Singapore about a week ago (with some really great photography), and they just posted another post on their experience renting our iPad yesterday. Thanks Giulio and Nat!

They liked the ability to access the internet islandwide:

The other thing we liked about the TouristPad is the internet access. Many international visitors to Singapore travel with their own iPad but internet costs are very high if you are on an international roaming plan. The $24/day - dropping to $16/day from the third day onward - is a good price to pay for internet access 24/7 (negating having to pay for hotel internet). It helped that the internet connection was smooth and fast no matter where we ventured in the city.

They also appreciated having loads of local and travel apps (such as gothere.sg, pictured, photo used with permission) at their fingertips:

Using the TouristPad as a travel guide was far more interesting, reliable and better than any guide book that eventually becomes outdated (sorry Lonely Planet!). The convenience of having everything at our fingertips (pun intended) was highlighted best when we came across a landmark, or local area, and we were able to instantly Google it to gather more information.

We take feedback from our clients seriously, and we agree with Giulio and Nat's feedback about having a weather app. From now on, all customers will find a new weather app pre-loaded on their iPads. When you rent from us, feel free to indicate if you wish to have any other apps preloaded and we'll be pleased to help! :)

Ticktok

TickTok, available on our iPad rentals for Singapore tourists

We recently met with the people behind Ticktok, and after hearing about their app, we are excited to feature the TickTok app on all our iPad rentals for Singapore tourists!

Ticktok is a great app which allows you to find out about queue times for food establishments in Singapore, and has this special function where they tell you if a restaurant or hawker stall is "Worth the Wait". Junguang from Ticktok explained to me that queue times are an objective measure of a restaurant's popularity and can be a good indicator of which are the restaurants worth going to. As more and more people share queue times with the app, the information will become more and more useful to everyone!

What we found very useful, and that we believe our tourist customers will appreciate, is their aggregation of food blog recommendations. Unlike print guidebooks, food blogs offer the latest updated content and reviews of restaurants, and that is why we link to several great food blogs on our TouristPads currently. With the addition of this app, we hope to provide a richer set of useful information to our iPad rental products.

Read more about Ticktok here.

Testimonial from CheapTickets

Another of our customers recently wrote a review of our service and product. Interested to know what CheapTickets thought? Here’s their review: (taken from their comment on Facebook)

"A huge thanks to TouristPads for helping to make our event at the Great Eastern Women's Run a success. Our team used the iPads to enable us to help the runners sign up online for their discount from CheapTickets.sg. We blasted through our target sign ups thanks to the support and quick thinking of Caleb's trouble shooting skills. It was invaluable to have the roaming iPads to be able to demonstrate our website to customers and help them do a flight search there and then. We will definitely be recommending TouristPads to our visiting friends and colleagues in the future- it's so hard to go without the internet these days and this service means you don't have to! Below is a picture of our team with the TouristPads. We look forward to using the service again in the near future!"

We are absolutely delighted that we are featured on The Straits Times on 5 Nov 2012. We have to thank Joshua's "misfortune" in Vienna for this great idea. Of course, also with a little inspiration from a similar service offered in Madrid. In short, opportunities are everywhere, we just got to be sensitive and seize them! You can view the article here.

We are also very proud to say that TouristPads is the only company in Singapore offering the new iPad with free 3G provided with all our rentals! Look for us should you need iPads for your events!

On top of this event, we are also supporting CheapTickets for another upcoming event that is going to be held at theTheFloat@MarinaBay this coming Sunday. Watch out for our red lovely iPads in action once again!
